Google and Facebook will both be front and centre in 'social search'

Findings from a Greenlight survey indicate Google+ might be more successful than most have initially speculated and that Facebook could potentially capture close to a quarter of the search market globally were it to launch a search engine of its own tomorrow. This market share would make Facebook the second most utilised search engine in every major market except for China, Japan, and Russia, where it would occupy an uncontested third place.

Consumer searches for White Goods show signs of being static

UK online searches for cooking, refrigeration, and dishwasher and laundry products seem to have remained static going by Greenlight's latest quarterly research. It shows queries for white goods products totalled 1 million in February - little rise on November 2011’s 957,000 or those of August 2011 which also stood at 1 million.

Greenlight Research - UK: Holiday searches up 42% with North America making the greatest gains

Searches for holidays online in January were up a massive 42% on November 2011 levels, according to the latest quarterly research from Greenlight covering consumer search behaviour in the holiday sector. This may in part, perhaps, have been driven by savvy consumers looking to book holidays early and additionally pre-empting last week’s budget announcement in which Chancellor George Osborne confirmed the double inflationary increase in Air Passenger Duty (APD) to all destinations commencing 1 April 2012.
