Is it worth bidding on generics?

The fact is your generic keywords will always be more expensive than your brand terms, as the space will always be more competitive with so many brands and resellers vying for the same audience. Unless your PPC strategy is heavily brand focussed, one would also expect there to be significantly more generic keywords then brand terms within the account.

Google’s new privacy policy confirms CTR use in algorithm

Scheduled to come into effect on March 1, Google’s much publicised new Privacy Policy and terms, which it says will give users better search results, ads and improve their experience overall, have come under scrutiny from the European Union’s (EU) data protection authorities. They have asked for rollout to be delayed in order to fully verify the terms are not in breach of EU data protection laws.

Is Google+ the Beginning of the End for Social Influence Services like Klout and Peer Index?

Google+ introduces some fundamental shifts in the way users engage with social media. The best part is that they are hidden under one of the smoothest and easiest to use UIs I have seen in a while. There's an established order to a mass chaos of messages (circles), topical analysis (spark) and the ability to collaborate through text and video (huddle). While these features are downright cool, they are not the heart of this post. Instead, I'd like to discuss the bigger picture - what these features really stack up to. One small, but massively inventive feature is the launch of verified authors Google+ profiles within Google SERPS.

Royal Wedding generating one mention every ten seconds, online

Within the last seven days, online media – including news sites, blogs, forums, Twitter and Facebook, has seen an accelerated flurry of ‘noise’ around the Royal Wedding. Data compiled by leading independent search marketing specialist and technology firm Greenlight, reveals it has risen a staggering 700% on March levels. Currently, there’s an average of 9,000 posts a day on online media relating to the Royal Wedding. Internationally, those excited by it outweigh “haters” by 6:1.
